Big speed with small kit!

Shooting motorsport usually means huge, weighty 11fps DSLR cameras like the Nikon D4S and monster 400mm f/2.8 lenses. Well, it usually does for me. So when Olympus asked me to shoot a club car race day at Rockingham using its tiny micro four-thirds EM-1 then I jumped at the chance to try out a smaller system. And what a joy not having to lug loads of heavy gear around.

I’d used the Olympus a few times on various shoots so it didn’t take me too long to get back into the swing of it. And for a camera so small was very impressive, especially for candids around the paddock. Will I be swopping my Nikon kit for one? No! There just isn’t the rage of lenses available yet, but small mirrorless cameras are coming on fast.
